Sowing Seeds of a Greener Tomorrow at Kumbhari Gaam

We, the Green Saarthis of Grow Native Green Forum, had the wonderful opportunity to conduct a seed drill at Kumbhari Gaam in Olpad. Our initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability and enhance the local flora. Early in the morning on 14 June 2026, we gathered at 6 am, filled with enthusiasm and determination. The task at hand was to condition the soil, which involved a careful blend of cocopeat and manure to create an ideal environment for our bilipatra saplings. The bilipatra tree, known for its ecological benefits, was chosen to enhance the area’s biodiversity. 

The team worked collaboratively. Green Saarthis were divided into teams. Some of them created the soil mixture, some filled the soil in the grow bags, some sowed seeds, some placed it carefully in the pits dug by another team, and some watered the seeds carefully. Of course, we also had a photography team that helped document our tasks. 

By 10 am, we had successfully sown over 2000 seeds, a significant achievement that filled us with a sense of purpose. After the sowing, we discussed our plans to return in the future once the seeds germinate and develop into healthy saplings. This step is crucial, as it will enable us to plant the young trees around the surrounding agricultural land, ultimately creating a natural barrier that can help improve soil health and provide shade.

To support our efforts, the landowner has kindly promised to water the seeds regularly, ensuring that they receive the proper hydration necessary for successful germination. This collaboration is vital as we work together towards a greener future. We look forward to witnessing the growth of these saplings and the positive impact they will have on the environment and local community.
