A New Kavach Van Takes Root at Shree Nalanda Gurukul Vidyalaya

On 12 July 2026, a remarkable example of community-driven environmental action unfolded at Shree Nalanda Gurukul Vidyalaya in Sithan, Olpad, Surat. Bringing together volunteers, students, educators, parents, and community organizations, the plantation drive resulted in the creation of a thriving Kavach Van (Miyawaki Forest) comprising 1,001 saplings representing more than 40 species of native trees.

The day began at 6:00 a.m. as participants assembled with enthusiasm and a shared commitment to creating a greener future. Following the Miyawaki methodology, teams carefully marked the plantation area, dug pits, enriched the soil with manure, and strategically positioned the saplings. Each tree was then planted and supported with bamboo sticks to ensure stability and healthy growth during its formative years.

The success of the drive was made possible through the collective efforts of a diverse group of participants. Around 60 Green Saarthis, 30 members of the Rotary Club of SeaFace Surat, 60 students, and several parents worked side by side throughout the morning. Their energy and teamwork transformed the school grounds into a future green sanctuary that will benefit generations of students and the surrounding community.
