16 and 23 August 2026: Two Mornings, One Green Vision: Building a Kavach Van at Saraswati Maha Vidyalaya

On 16 and 23 August 2026, Saraswati Maha Vidyalaya became the setting for two memorable mornings of community action, environmental commitment, and joyful togetherness. The Green Saarthis returned to the campus to create a Kavach Van—a protective Miyawaki forest—comprising over 2000 native trees representing more than 30 species.

Both mornings began early, surrounded by nature. On 16 August, volunteers arrived to the gentle drizzle and the calls of peacocks, while on 23 August, the first rays of the morning sun welcomed the Green Saarthis. Around 100 nature enthusiasts participated across the initiative, demonstrating once again the power of collective effort. The plantation process involved meticulous preparation.  Some volunteers dug pits with machinery while others transported and positioned saplings. As more Green Saarthis arrived, the energy at the site grew, with everyone readily taking up whatever task was needed.

The 23 August event brought its own special moments. Kinjalben celebrated her birthday by joining the plantation drive, while a musical troupe led by Shri Ghulam Farid Vora added a festive touch with a wonderful Garba session. Saloni-ben, who teaches the wisdom of the Gita, and a group of children also participated in a unique tree-planting activity while reciting verses from the Gita. The presence and support of Ms. Savita Sarada and Ms. Yogitaben from Saraswati Maha Vidyalaya further strengthened the collaboration. We celebrated Vrikshabandhan with a particularly meaningful ritual: paying obeisance to the trees and tying Raksha threads around them as Vriksha Narayan Dev—a beautiful expression of our promise to protect and nurture them.

The initiative was made possible through generous support from several individuals and organizations. We extend our sincere gratitude to Ankitbhai, Dhruvbhai, and Sandipbhai of Fit Hub, who provided the financial support for the plantation on 16 August 2026. We also gratefully acknowledge the sponsors and supporters of the 23 August 2026 plantation drive from Rotary Inner Wheel Seaface, including Meenu Poddar and Kavita Sharaf, Bela-ben of Paridrishya, Savita Kejriwal, and fellow Rotarians.

We are equally grateful to Yogitaben and the team at Saraswati Maha Vidyalaya for providing the land and participating wholeheartedly in the initiative. A special thank you to Hetalbhai, for capturing these moments and sharing the photographs and videos promptly.

These two plantation mornings were about far more than putting saplings into the ground. They brought together nature lovers, educators, children, sponsors, volunteers, and well-wishers around a shared purpose. With every native tree planted, the Kavach Van at Saraswati Maha Vidyalaya moves one step closer to becoming a thriving, biodiverse green sanctuary for years to come. 🌳🌿🙏
