Sustaining Saplings at Toran Vatika Nursery

With summer setting in and temperatures increasing, the conditions for outdoor labor, particularly after 10 a.m., are physically demanding. Recognizing this challenge, our dedicated team of Green Saarthis gathered at the Toran Vatika Nursery at 6:30 a.m. on 15 March 2026 to maximize our productive time and ensure the continued well-being of our young saplings.

Our morning was spent in focused, meticulous care, beginning with the removal of persistent invasive grass that competes with the plants for vital nutrients and space. Furthermore, a significant portion of our effort was dedicated to the critical task of segregation, carefully arranging saplings of the same species together to optimize future distribution.

To prepare them for the upcoming plantation areas, we filled their containers with a nourishing blend of cocopeat, soil, and essential fertilizers. This rich mixture guarantees they will sustain healthy growth during the interim period. As necessary, we undertook repotting to provide ample room for root expansion.

Finally, we vigilantly shooed away snails and other insects, protecting the young saplings from harmful pests. Our collective, determined work ensures that every single sapling remains healthy and robust until it finds its permanent home.
